Water Within

Water Within traces an intimate dialogue between body and water that moves through the dancer, runs in her blood, and shapes her memory. Shifting between the solidity of ice, fluidity of river and sea towards the airy mist, she transitions through states of being: tension and release, pain and healing, fragility and strength. The body becomes both vessel and landscape, trembling with vulnerability, yet holding within the quiet force of nature. As she dissolves into mist, she finds lightness: a return, a surrender, a merging with the element itself. The piece reflects on generational memory carried, reshaped, and released through time.

In Water Within, I was exploring spatial composition as a means of storytelling, drawing parallels between physical transformation and sonic evolution. Through spatial sound, perspectives shift fluidly between external observation and inner experience, allowing the listener to inhabit the character’s emotional and sensory landscape. The project builds cross-modal relationships between visual imagery, bodily motion, and spatial sound. By aligning evolving water states with vocal, instrumental, and sound design techniques, Water Within constructs an environment where physical and emotional metamorphosis resonate as one continuous flow.

My contributions to the project span across conceptualisation, field-recordings, and on-set recordings, sound design, composition, and spatial mixing.
